Coaching and mentoring are often thought of as the same thing. While they are similar, they are not exactly the same. A coach on the court is helping someone to learn a skill. This is the same as a basketball coach teaching a player how to improve his shot. A mentor has a higher goal for the person he is working with. The mentor isn’t seeking to merely have the player get better in his position, he wants to help the player move up the ranks of the team.
Here at CBA our coaching staff focuses not only on teaching our players the fundamentals, but mentoring them on how they can best improve their ball game, academic success, and life achievements.
Coaching in Action is motivational in nature and players should not expect that the work will be done for them. Our CBA coaching staff will collaborate with the player and devise a strategy, while helping the player decide what is most important for them to achieve.
